CUSTOMS PROCEDURES

Pre-Shipment Inspection

All exports to Guinea worth more than $5,000 are subject to preshipment inspection, primarily to avoid under-invoicing of goods, prior to leaving U S. ports by the inspection firm SGS Control Services. This service is paid for by a charge of 0.9 percent of the FOB price of the merchandise, paid by the importer. The Preshipment Inspection will verify quality, quantity and price as well as customs classification and value for the calculation of corresponding import duties and taxes.

Arrangements for pre-shipment inspection may be made by contacting SGS Control Services in New York City at: [Tel; (212) 482-8700]; [Fax: (212)-968-1157].
